Welcome to the last Tipton Times of 2023. The year may be nearly over but there is still much to enjoy as you can see from the calendars on pages 28 and 29, particularly if you’d like to take part in any of the village’s seasonal celebrations.
This issue also gives us a chance to reflect on the old year as it closes and, if there is a common theme emerging, there is plenty in these pages to make us think about the importance of our environment and the positive contributions many in our community are making to preserve and sustain it for future generations. We could point you to our regular contributions from Lisette Johnston and Ken Mylne, and the efforts made by our local councillors in alerting us to ways we can respond to the emergency situations (such as the flooding back in May) that are becoming all too common – see page 21 which has the first contribution from our new town councillor, Janice Aherne – and the Tipton Ladies Group report on page 19.
We’d also like to point you to the article on page 5 by new contributors, Tracy and Simon West whose charity WordForest, based in Kenya, is dedicated to combating the climate emergency. They would be delighted if lots of Tipton Times readers responded to their invitation to the bring and share vegan lunch. The news of these initiatives is so heartening because we can be reassured that there are positive steps we can make to look after our world better.
Just as importantly, we very much hope you enjoy this edition which includes all the other regular contributions that reflect so well on the enthusiasm and spirit of our community.
