Welcome to the December/January edition of Tipton Times. We hope you find much to enjoy within the following pages as well as information about upcoming events. Tipton Past

Mass observation and an interesting local character.

In 1937 a social research project began which aimed to record everyday life in Britain through a panel of 500 untrained volunteers who observed everyday life. A local author, Todd Gray from Exeter University has recently been reading through the records taken by people who lived in Devon. One of these people was Diana Murray-Hill who lived in Sidford during this time and then later moved to Tipton

The Full Treatment

As the curtain opened, the audience broke into a spontaneous round of applause at the excellent set, which was absolutely spot on for the 70’s period including fast moving action unfolded. paper globe lampshades. From the outset we were thoroughly entertained as the fast moving action unfolded.

Cricket Club Awards / Remembering ‘Blackers’

Our annual awards evening and dinner was held on the 20th November at the Golden Lion – for the first time in anyone’s memory. It was great to hold the evening in the village, especially as Annie and her team have been so supportive of the cricket club throughout the summer, welcoming us to the pub after our Sunday matches. Many thanks, Annie, for hosting us and providing a great dinner.

Tipton Times was started in 1969 and is produced and distributed to local households every two months by volunteers. Costs are met from voluntary contributions.
