Welcome to the June/July edition of Tipton Times. By the time you’ve finished reading you’ll be left in      no doubt about the extent and range of activities going on in our community over the next two months. You can read about Tipton Open Gardens on 14th June, the VOSRA auction of gifts and promises on the 28th June, the Family Fun Day on 12th July and don’t forget the Rail and River Run on 5th July (entries are open until the 28th June https://www.sientries.co.uk/event.php?event_id=15030).

A bonus addition to the Open Gardens event will be the showing of a short film of the Tipton Fete in 1986, which has been donated to the Ottery Heritage Society. It will be repeated during the afternoon so do come along and see who you can identify!

As ever, there are numerous ways to get involved in community activities. It’s very good to see our Scout group growing and flourishing alongside other community initiatives like Eager Beavers (well done on the attempts to deal with Himalayan Balsam!) and Playing Field event organisation including the Rail and River Run.

We also hope you’ll enjoy the accounts of the various events which took place in April and May. The opening match of the cricket season, featuring an invitation Golden Lion XI, was a wonderful community afternoon and certain to be repeated. Many thanks and congratulations are due to the Playing Field events team for their initiative in organising the very successful Easter Eggstravaganza and VE Day celebrations.

Alongside all the above, there are of course all our regular articles and features. Many thanks to all our contributors for your part in providing such a great insight into the life of our community.

Finally, in this issue, you will find an envelope through which you can contribute to the costs of running Tipton Times. All donations are gratefully received and vital in keeping our village magazine running.
